10 Dead in New Year’s Day Incident on Bourbon Street

A vehicle incident in New Orleans' French Quarter resulted in multiple casualties during New Year's celebrations early Monday morning. A white pickup truck entered Bourbon Street around 12:30 AM, striking numerous pedestrians in the crowded entertainment district. The incident resulted in 10 fatalities and multiple injuries. Witness Whit Davis reported taking shelter in a bar during the incident. "People started running and getting under tables like it was an active shooter drill," he told the BBC. Witnesses Jim and Nicole Mowrer observed the vehicle breach a street barrier. They sought shelter in an alcove as law enforcement responded to the scene.
