Rashford Breaks Silence On Manchester United Future After Month Long Exile

Marcus Rashford maintains hope of returning to Manchester United’s first team despite his ongoing absence from the squad.

The 27-year-old forward hasn’t played since being taken off during United’s Europa League win against Viktoria Plzen on December 12. Following that match, head coach Ruben Amorim questioned Rashford’s training performances. Since then, Rashford’s only inclusion in a matchday squad came as an unused substitute during the 3-0 home loss to Newcastle on December 30.

After United’s 3-1 defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford on Sunday, Amorim’s comment that “it’s his choice” sparked speculation that Rashford had requested not to be considered for selection. However, club sources indicate this was a misinterpretation of Amorim’s words, suggesting the former Sporting manager was simply stating that Rashford’s future depends on his own actions.

Sources close to Rashford emphasize that he remains committed to playing for United and has no major conflict with Amorim. They maintain he would play if selected.

While various European clubs have expressed interest in Rashford, the most likely outcome appears to be a loan move before the transfer window closes in early February.

The frequency of Rashford’s participation in first-team training during his exclusion from matchday squads remains unclear.

United’s pre-match preparation will be partially visible to the media on Wednesday, with cameras permitted to film the first 15 minutes of training at the Carrington facility ahead of their crucial Europa League match against Rangers at Old Trafford.

The fixture carries significant importance for both teams’ European aspirations. United currently hold seventh place with 12 points, while Rangers sit eighth with 11 points. With 17th-placed Plzen only three points behind United and two games remaining, neither club has secured even a play-off position.

Netflix Shocks Fans With Price Hike After Record Breaking Growth

Netflix has announced price increases across multiple countries following a substantial growth of nearly 19 million subscribers in late 2024. The streaming service plans to implement higher subscription costs in the United States, Canada, Argentina, and Portugal, while remaining silent about potential UK price changes. In the US market, the standard ad-free subscription will increase to $17.99 monthly from $15.49, while the ad-supported tier will rise by one dollar to $7.99. The company's last US price adjustment occurred in October 2023, which coincided with UK price modifications for certain plans. The streaming giant justified the price increases, stating, "We will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can re-invest to further improve Netflix." The subscriber growth, which significantly exceeded expectations of 9.6 million new members between October and December, brought Netflix's total subscriber base above […]

Female Speaker Makes History As Irish Parliament Welcomes New Leader

Ireland's 35th Dáil (parliament) is set to reconvene Wednesday with Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin returning as taoiseach (prime minister). The transition will see current leader Simon Harris of Fine Gael move to the role of tánaiste (deputy prime minister). Following November's election, Fianna Fáil emerged as the largest party with 48 seats and has formed a government through a coalition with Fine Gael (38 seats) and several independent regional TDs (members of parliament). Sinn Féin, despite winning 39 seats, remains in opposition after being ruled out as a coalition partner by both Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael—a decision that Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald criticized as "bad practice." The new government formation comes after approximately five weeks of negotiations, with both Martin and Harris recently confirming a draft programme for government that received endorsement from their respective parties. Trump Removes Historic Coast Guard Commander On First Day

Admiral Linda Fagan, the first woman to lead a U.S. military branch, has been removed from her position as Coast Guard Commandant within 24 hours of President Donald Trump taking office. The dismissal was first reported by Fox News and was confirmed through a statement to Coast Guard units obtained by The New York Times. The statement cited "leadership deficiencies, operational failures and inability to advance the strategic objectives of the U.S. Coast Guard" as reasons for her termination. It also mentioned her "excessive focus" on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies as a factor. The removal aligns with Trump's broader executive action issued after his inauguration, calling for federal agencies to end DEI initiatives, which he described as "illegal and immoral." In the executive order, Trump stated that "the public release of these plans demonstrated immense public waste and […]

Manchester United Pays Last Respect To Club Legend Denis Law

Manchester United honored legendary striker Denis Law, who passed away at 84, before their Sunday match against Brighton with a moving ceremony at Old Trafford. Law, who netted 237 goals in 404 appearances during his remarkable tenure from 1962 to 1973, left an indelible mark on the club's history. His legacy was commemorated as flags flew at half-mast and players donned black armbands, while the traditional sound of bagpipes playing "Flower of Scotland" accompanied the teams onto the field. The stadium fell into a respectful silence as a poem was read, with notable United figures in attendance including Sir Alex Ferguson, Pat Crerand, Alex Stepney, and Brian Kidd. Stadium announcer Alan Keegan captured the sentiment with poetic words: "Beyond the goals the man stood tall, a heart of gold who inspired all. He's still the King of the Stretford End." […]

Gauff, who has amassed over 750,000 TikTok followers, shared her thoughts after her 5-7 6-2 6-1 victory over Switzerland's Bencic in Melbourne. "Hopefully it comes back. It's really sad. I love TikTok," said Gauff, who will face Spanish 11th seed Paula Badosa in the quarter-finals. She described the platform as an escape and part of her pre-match routine, adding "I guess it'll force me to read […]
