Monday's four scheduled matches in Italy's top football division have been postponed following Pope Francis's death. The Vatican announced Monday morning that Pope Francis had died at age 88, shortly after being discharged from hospital where he had spent five weeks receiving treatment for an infection. Four Serie A fixtures were originally scheduled for Easter Monday, a national holiday in Italy: Torino v Udinese, Cagliari v Fiorentina, Genoa v Lazio, and Parma v Juventus. The governing body overseeing Italian top-flight football stated these matches would be rescheduled at a later date.
