British Woman Among Tourists Sickened in Suspected Mass Methanol Poisoning in Laos
A British woman is among a group of tourists who have fallen ill in Laos after allegedly consuming drinks contaminated with methanol. Simone White, a 28-year-old lawyer from Orpington, Kent, was hospitalized along with several other backpackers in the popular tourist town of Vang Vieng. This incident is part of a suspected mass methanol poisoning that has tragically claimed the lives of four people, including an Australian teenager, Bianca Jones. Another Australian teenager, Holly Bowles, remains in critical condition in a Thai hospital. Two Danish women and an American man have also died in connection with the suspected poisoning.
