Aero Contractors has announced a special initiative offering reduced fares for domestic flights during the festive season. The airline has set a minimum ticket price of N80,000 for all its routes, aiming to make travel more affordable for Nigerians during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Managing Director Ado Sanusi described the initiative as a gesture of goodwill, acknowledging the economic challenges faced by many Nigerians. “We understand the economic hardship Nigerians are facing, especially with high ticket prices,” Sanusi stated. “In the spirit of Christmas, Aero Contractors has introduced what we call pocket-friendly Christmas prices.”
The reduced fares will be available throughout December and January, allowing families to reunite and celebrate the holidays without incurring excessive travel costs. Sanusi emphasized the airline’s commitment to providing affordable travel options, especially during this festive period.
While the new pricing was not yet reflected on Aero Contractors’ website as of Tuesday afternoon, the announcement signals a significant reduction compared to current fares. A Lagos-to-Abuja economy ticket is currently priced at โฆ99,643, while business class tickets are being sold for โฆ189,167.
Sanusi assured customers that the reduced fares have been carefully calculated to ensure the airline’s continued profitability while also considering the current economic climate. This initiative reflects Aero Contractors’ commitment to serving the Nigerian public and providing accessible travel options during a time of celebration and family reunions.

The Irish Ferries ship WB Yeats arrived in Dublin Port from Holyhead this morning, marking the resumption of services. However, the initial restart was not without problems. Ger Hyland, President of the Irish Road Haulage Association (IRHA), reported a three-hour delay for the second ferry from Dublin to Holyhead due to an electrical fault at the port. Hyland expressed concern about the port's readiness, citing the large backlog of freight on the Welsh side. He emphasized the potential for "huge disaster" for the haulage sector, passengers, and Ireland's imports […]

McGregor has denied the allegations through a spokesperson, dismissing them as a "shakedown." While the Miami Police Department initiated an investigation following a report filed on June 11, 2023, the Florida State Attorneyโs Office declined to file criminal charges in October 2023. This declination does not preclude the pursuit of a civil suit, which has a different standard of proof than criminal proceedings. The lawsuit also details […]

Auto Tariffs Will Cost Industry 100 Billion Dollars and Cut Sales by Millions
New vehicle tariffs are reshaping the automotive landscape, with industry analysts forecasting significant impacts on both manufacturers and consumers. The 25% tariff on imported vehicles and upcoming similar levies on auto parts are expected to create ripple effects throughout the sector. Financial experts project the policy changes could add between $110 and $160 billion in annual costs industry-wide. For U.S. automakers alone, expenses could rise by $107.7 billion, with Detroit's Big Three facing $41.9 billion in additional costs. These increased expenses are likely to affect consumer prices, with analysts predicting average vehicle cost increases of $2,000-$4,000 over the next year. Imported vehicles could see price hikes up to $6,000, while U.S.-assembled vehicles may increase by $3,600 due to parts tariffs. Manufacturers are responding differently: domestic producers are offering temporary employee pricing deals, while some international brands have suspended U.S. shipments. […]

Major Power Outage Forces Heathrow Airport Closure, Causing Global Flight Disruptions

Approximately 70 firefighters battled the blaze in west London, which also disabled the airport's backup power system. Large orange flames and black smoke were visible before firefighters contained the fire. By morning, roads around Britain's largest airport were mostly empty except for some departing passengers with luggage. Fire investigators will examine the cause, though Energy Minister Ed Miliband indicated it didn't appear to be foul play. Heathrow announced the airport would remain closed until midnight due to the significant power outage, affecting 1,351 scheduled flights and up to 291,000 passengers. "Passengers are advised not to travel to the airport and should contact their airline for further information," the airport stated. "We apologize for the inconvenience." The […]
