A significant legal challenge has emerged in the entertainment industry as 365 music fans have joined forces in a lawsuit against Ticketmaster and Live Nation. Filed in Los Angeles County’s Superior Court by Kinder Law, the lawsuit addresses concerns over ticket pricing and availability for major concert tours, including those of Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.
The complaint alleges several serious issues, including breach of contract, fraud, and antitrust violations. At the heart of the matter is the relationship between Ticketmaster, Live Nation, and their venue partnerships, which the plaintiffs claim has led to inflated ticket prices beyond what a competitive market would naturally establish.
This legal action builds upon a previous case filed by Kinder Law in December 2022 and introduces new allegations of RICO violations. The plaintiffs’ legal team asserts that individual fans have suffered financial losses potentially reaching thousands of dollars.
The case joins other ongoing legal challenges facing the ticketing giants. Most notably, the U.S. Department of Justice, along with 29 state attorneys general, launched an antitrust lawsuit earlier this year examining the companies’ market position since their 2010 merger.
Live Nation and Ticketmaster’s previous responses to similar allegations have consistently defended their business practices. When faced with earlier controversies, such as the issues surrounding Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour ticket sales, the companies attributed problems to external factors like automated buying attempts rather than internal practices.
While Kinder Law seeks a jury trial and unspecified damages, the case’s ultimate path through the legal system remains to be determined. The outcome could have significant implications for how concert tickets are sold and priced in the future.
